VEA Fund Recommends Justin Fairfax for Lieutenant Governor
RICHMOND—Former prosecutor Justin Fairfax has earned the recommendation of the VEA Fund for Children and Public Education, the Association’s political action arm, in this fall’s Lieutenant Governor’s race.
“Justin Fairfax is the kind of young, savvy leader we need alongside Ralph Northam and Mark Herring,” said VEA President Jim Livingston, who also serves as chairman of the VEA Fund. “His range of experience and his informed support for public education will make him a vital part of Virginia’s leadership team going forward and fighting to turn back the Trump-DeVos education agenda.”
Fairfax, a graduate of Duke University and Columbia Law School, has served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia and the Deputy Coordinator of the Northern Virginia Human Trafficking Task Force. He’s also a small business owner, along with his wife, Dr. Cerina Fairfax, DDS.
“I am truly grateful for the endorsement of the Virginia Education Association,” Fairfax said. “Educators help shape our future everyday by inspiring young minds and helping students learn. I am honored to have the support of teachers across the Commonwealth and as Lieutenant Governor, I look forward to working with VEA to help our educators and students have what they need to succeed.”
Fairfax’s opponent, Republican State Senator Jill Vogel, also participated in the VEA Fund’s recommendation process and is the only Republican statewide candidate to fully do so. The VEA Fund is grateful for her participation and past leadership on public education issues, and we look forward to a positive campaign over the coming months.
